Nicole's Corner: Are You Dating in 2D or 3D?

I was watching Pastor R.A. Vernon as I do every Sunday evening and there was a clip that really peaked my interest. Pastor Vernon's sermon to women was called "We Saw Him First". He first asked who saw the movie "Avatar". He asked the women if they saw the movie the regular way or in 3D. He went on to explain the difference between 2D and 3D. The regular movies are made in 2D which is nothing but height and width. When you view a 3D movie, it is height, width, and depth. The difference is that when you put the glasses on, the movie comes off the screen towards you because it has depth. He then made the analogy that many single women have been dating in 2D. He went to say that all women (not all but many) see is a man's height and maybe how well endowed he is but don't look for the depth until after the bedroom. So once you got out of the bed with him and tried to talk to him, you realized that he may not have the same intellect level or even lifestyle as you do. So you have to have the power of discernment which gives you the sight of 3D or depth.

The above message is for men and women. Many of us lack the power of 3D? We need to determine what the depth of a potential mate is before entering a relationship and especially the bedroom. Make sure that you have something in common. Make sure there is good communication. Make sure that you are both on the same page about your future.

I am one that has been dating in 2D. I always looked for how a man looks and possibly what he did for a living. It seems that I never got into anything more until after the bedroom which in my opinion moved to fast anyway. Now that I am practicing discernment, I am starting to see the depth of a person before entering a relationship and definitely before entering bedroom.

I am a big believer of black love. I would like to see black love grow and be powerful. I would like to see the increase in black marriages and it be done in the right way. I hope the above message will inspire you to have great and everlasting relationships. Good luck and much love to all you!

BFT Discussions: Have the perception of marriage changed from the time your parents and/or grandparents were married?

Based on prior discussions, I have noticed that there is a different perception of marriage from when our parents and grandparents got married. When our grandparents and parents got married, the marriage seemed to last 30 year and more. Today... couples seem like they are getting married for different reasons and not staying married as long or they are not getting married at all. Have the perception of marriage changed from the time your parents and/or grandparents were married?
