BFT Discussion: Former Bay Area Rapid Transit Officer Charged With Shooting An Unarmed Man. Thoughts?

I was not sure whether I wanted to discuss this topic or not, but here it is. About 18 months ago, former Bay area transit officer Johannes Mehserle was charged for shooting Oscar Grant as he lay face down on an Oakland train platform. Mehserle contends that he was reaching for his tazer and not his gun. Grant was not armed and laying facedown. To catch us up all up to speed, the trial of whether this police officer is guilty or not is currently happening. Without passing judgement, how do you really feel about this?

  1. Thanks for posting this, there is so much talk about this case in the Bay Area and I am going to be FURIOUS if Mehserle gets anything less than 2nd Degree Murder. He says he accidentally shot him and meant to taze him instead. The fact is, Mehserle was angry and felt justified in shooting (or tazing) a young black man who was face down on the ground in front of him, not posing a threat. Thank God for cell phones, now this behavior can be recorded by bystanders!

    I am worried for the people of Oakland because there will be anger and frustration if this jury does not reach a fair verdict.

  2. THIS IS AMERIKKKA,WE HAVE BEEN CATCHING HEELL HERE FOR 400 YEARS,HE IS A WHITE POLICE OFFICER SHOOTING SOME ONE ON THE GROUND HANDCUFFED....I GUESS A PIC. IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS.....
